Prof. Geetam Tiwari

Prof. Geetam Tiwari obtained her B. Arch form the IIT Roorkee and Master of Urban Planning and Policy, and Ph.D. in Transport Planning and Policy, from the University of Illinois, Chicago. Currently she is TRIPP Chair Professor for Transport Planning at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and Adlerbretska Guest Professor for sustainable urban transport at the Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden. She has extensive research experience in dealing with transportation issues of special relevance to low income countries. These include development of bus systems and road designs that would make transportation efficient and safer. She has been working in the area of traffic and transport planning focusing on pedestrians, bicycles and bus based public transport systems. Some of her projects include Development of a Bicycle Master plan for Delhi, analysis of traffic on Indian Highways, crash analysis on rural and urban roads, public transport planning.

She has extensive research experience in dealing with transportation issues of special relevance to low income countries. These include development of bus systems and road designs that would make transportation efficient and safer. She has been working in the area of traffic and transport planning focusing on pedestrians, bicycles and bus based public transport systems. Some of her projects include Development of a Bicycle Masterplan for Delhi, analysis of traffic on Indian Highways, crash analysis on rural and urban roads, public transport planning.

She has published over 70 research papers on transportation planning and safety in national and international journals, peer reviewed seminar proceedings and edited four books on transportation planning and road safety. Prof. Tiwari received the International Velocity Falco Lecture Prize in Barcelona, the Stockholm Partnerships award for local impact, innovative thinking and a potential for replication or transferability, the Centre for excellence grant from Volvo Research and Educational Foundations (VREF), and the Prince Michaels award for promoting road safety research. She is advisor to Urban Age series of conferences coordinated by London School of Economics since 2005. She is editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Injury Control and Safety Promotion.

Dr. Anvita Arora

Position: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Director

Expertise: Non motorized transport, sustainable transport public transport

Dr. Dr. Anvita Arora is an Architect and an Urban Transport planner with a PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi. She is the Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Innovative Transport Solutions (iTrans) Pvt. Ltd. During the last 8 years of heading the organization she has led several projects on transport policy, planning and design in several cities around the country. She has been involved in sustainable transport projects since 2000, and has focused on understanding the needs of the different user groups in the system. She is a certified trainer in non-motorized inclusive planning and has ongoing projects to integrate Public Transport and NMT systems in large cities. She has travelled extensively across the globe to speak in conferences on non-motorized transport in Indian Cities, has also delivered training programs on in Santiago, Chile and other cities, and has experience of working with multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural teams. She has published several papers and contributed to books on Sustainable Urban Transport issues.

She was also the India Representative of Interface for Cycling Expertise, I-CE, Netherlands for 4 years and supported the India component of a 30 city technical support program on creating cycle friendly cities.

She has been teaching Transport Planning in the Urban Design Department in the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), Delhi for the last 12 years and guides the thesis students of the Transport Planning Department. She is also Visiting Faculty with the Urban Design Department at the Sushant School of Art and Architecture, and the Department of Policy Studies at The TERI University. She was associated with Transportation Research and Injury Prevention Program (TRIPP), IIT, Delhi, a VREF Centre of Excellence, for nearly 17 years and has been involved in projects pertaining to the inclusion of the vulnerable road users and the urban poor in transport planning.






Mr. Parvesh Kumar Sharawat

Position: Chief Operating Officer(COO)

Expertise:Non motorized transport, financing public bicycle sharing, urban planning, project management

He is an Urban Planner with an MBA, with over 8 years’ experience as an urban planner in consultancy, Central & State government and local councils; primarily involved in undertaking reform implementation, statutory planning & development and feasibility assessment. His skills include the management/coordination of multi- disciplinary staff team and providing specialist advice on a wide variety of projects. His work has taken him across the country where he has worked with various government departments which enhanced his knowledge and practical understanding of projects, policies & guidelines etc. He has strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with the Ministry of Urban Development officials, State Government & City Council staff, and others. He has expertise and experience in Urban Reform Implementation and comprehensive planning, with a smart growth focus. He has demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with private sector, Government of India, Government of Delhi, various government bodies in India, Local Municipalities and create strong working relationships and partnerships with other community stakeholders. His primary career interest is developing expertise in financial feasibility and economic viability of urban transport, especially non-motorized transport (NMT) projects. As Managing Director (MD) at Innovative Transport Solutions (iTrans), an urban transport consultancy company focusing on applied research and implementation of sustainable urban transport projects, he is working on the challenge of making sustainable transport projects financially viable.

Mr. Anmol Anand

Position: Urban Planner

Expertise:Non-motorized transport,Auto CAD, Arc GIS, Data collection and analysis.

He has a B. Plan Degree from School of Planning and Architecture, Bhopal. He has worked on projects relating to non-motorized transport planning (NMT), public bike sharing schemes (PBS), intermediate public transport (IPT) and accessibility planning for metro stations.
